Betsy Ross Elementary School
A Word From Our Principal
Dear Roadrunner Families,
I am delighted to welcome you and your children to the 24-25 school year at Ross Elementary. My name is Deidra (Dede) Stewart and it is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of our wonderful school.
As we begin, I want to assure you that my primary focus will be on providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for all our students. I firmly believe in the importance of fostering a strong partnership between home and school, and I am committed to working closely with each of you to ensure that every child has an amazing elementary school experience.
I come to Ross with 20 years of experience in AESD, having served in various roles such as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and most recently a vice principal. My experiences have shaped my educational philosophy, which is centered on the belief in the power of recognizing and nurturing each child’s unique strengths.
I am truly honored to serve as your principal and look forward to getting to know each of you. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.
Let’s work together to make this the best year yet!
Dede Stewart
School Site Council Meetings
Dear Ross School Families,
Below you will find the schedule for upcoming Virtual School Site Council (SSC) meetings. The SSC/ELAC meeting agendas will be posted 72 hours before the meeting date. Meeting minutes will be posted after each meeting.
Instructional Materials Public Hearing Notice
It is recommended the Board of Education declare a public hearing for the purpose of hearing comments from the public regarding whether pupils in the school will have during the 2024-25 school year sufficient textbooks and/or instructional materials consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum frameworks adopted by the California Department of Education {Education Code Sections 60119 and 33126). After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the September 11, 2024, Regular Board meeting.
School & District Parent & Family Engagement Policies 2022-2023
Research indicates that Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) help children achieve high academic standards. When schools work together with parents in school activities, and both schools and families engage in shared decision making regarding children’s education, students are more likely to acquire literacy at faster rates.
The links below contain the AESD and Parent & Family Engagement Policies. The policies are jointly developed with parents to establish objectives for meaningful parent and family involvement. (20 U.S.C. sections 6312, 6318[a][2])
