The department of School, Family, & Community Engagement welcomes local media to strengthen communication with parents/guardians, staff, and community members; disseminate information regarding District and academic programs; provide educational resources to parents; and to promote District and school-site events, activities, and accomplishments.

Recently superintendent Dr. Christopher Downing spoke about Expanded Learning Opportunities program the initiative to CBS2 News.

Our students recently participated in mariachi lesson at Ponderosa Elementary. These Students have been participating in the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program since the beginning of 2022. The program extends the academic school day to nine hours with a combination of before and after-school activities. Watch them perform on the CBS Los Angeles show with Sheba Turk and AESD’s Superintendent Dr. Downing
